Hi everyone,
Not much looks different on my work desk this week, however, I did get to play a little over the weekend. Those of you who visited last week would have seen my vintage 5 x 5 fat book, went through a little transformation...firstly because the image wasn't really vintage, so I removed the "goth" vintage and replaced it with a very vintage looking dancing couple. I also added some simple embellishments and some words.
So, this is what I ended up with in the end.
With the door closed...
And with the door open...
I went back to full-time work this week after 12 months off work, so to say that it has been a little shock to the system, would be an understatement. I'm sure I'll be firing on all cylinders by the end of the week.
So now my challenge will be to fit full-time teaching around my crafting...hopefully my craft won't suffer as a consequence of my paid work.
Anyway, here is what my desk looks like today...I'm still inside as it is still very hot...today 38 degrees Celsius!!
I'm off now to the back room where the air conditioner is blaring. A concept that is very foreign to those of you northern hemisphere dwellers.
Until next time,
:D
It is the TOTAL opposite here today. Its not even a frost, just icy coldness and a bitterly cold breeze - but wonderfully sunny now too. Its a funny old world! Boo hiss to going back to work and having to limit your crafty time. I guess that "me" time becomes so much precious and needed now too. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa-Jane,
DeleteI've survived week 1, so I think I will be fine. I will have to work hard to ensure "me crafting time".
That's a very clever journal cover and good luck with going back to work. I lose 50 hours a week through work and traveling and I hate having so little time!!

It's blooming freezing here, but the sun is shining! Looks like a fun desk. Hope you enjoy this WOYWW. Zo x 89
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by...hopefully you'll defrost soon.
DeleteI wish it was 38c here today, its around -4 but feels a lot, lot colder with the strong NE winds!!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab WOYWW and a great week, Karen #108
Finally we've had a cooler day today. I'll send some warm thoughts your way Karen.
Deletehi, I like your layout looks fab with the couple, Hope work goes well for you. Wish it would warm up here in the UK its been so cold.

Hi Anne-Marie, I've just seen on the nightly news that Europe is experiencing a cold snap...hopefully you are keeping warm and safe.
DeleteHi...thats a lovely card you've made...and your desk looks like a work in progress...going back to work after 12 months off will really take it out of you...hope all goes well...have a wonderful week...mel :)
ReplyDeleteYes, my desk and studio are a big work in progress, some times I feel like putting the up the "under construction sign"...lol..I survived week 1...neither teacher nor students cried!
DeleteLove that card, hope all goes well for you, Hugs May x x x x
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words May.
DeleteOh i am dreaming of your weather, hope you have a great week, Lou
ReplyDeleteWell, it is now Friday night, so I'm looking forward to a great weekend!
DeleteLove your card! I recently went back to work full time after being off for over two years. I totally agree - it's a complete shock to the system! After a few months I'm getting the hang of it and have been working in more crafting in the evenings, not just the weekends. It gets easier! Thanks for sharing your desk! Tammy #118
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy,
DeleteI've really enjoyed going back to work, I just find that I'm really tired by the end of the day, and my legs aren't used to standing all day long...but I will get there.
Fun project! Thanks for sharing your space!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Stephanie. I'm glad you liked what you saw.
Deletewow, ok, I admit I had to pull up a convertor to figure out what 38 degrees celsius converts to...around 100 degrees farhenheit? wowzers, where are you anyway??, I was trying to figure it out by looking on your blog but didn't see it. Joined up with you and waving hi from the hills of NC :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sandee...I'm on the west coast of Australia and it gets really hot here in summer. I assume NC is North Carolina?
Deletehope your transition to going back to work goes well. i do like the vintage couple behind the door! happy WOYWW, and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletehugs,

Thanks Peggy...I had fun making my vintage fat book page...It is a year long project where I make 2 pages per month and get 2 pages back...Jan's theme was Doors/Doorways. Feb's theme is Women in Literature...so I will have to put my thinking cap on...Perhaps Agatha Christie?
DeleteI love this piece, mainly because of the simplicity of it. No need for too much fuss & added Doo Dads, it's striking in it's simplicity.
ReplyDeleteHugs Lucy
Thanks Lucy...simple is good sometimes...all the bells and whistles, although very appropriate at times, can be a little distracting.
DeleteThanks for stopping by...I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.
Nice looking desk this week and I love what you did to your book! I am offering up some blog candy so come leave a comment on my blog and get a chance to win! Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Vickie #90
ReplyDeleteThe fat book looks fab. The weather is crazy in Sydney hot on Monday cold and wet rest of the week. Best of luck with full time work it is a necessary evil when you craft.
ReplyDeleteHello my friend...I'm glad you like my fat book page. Are you doing the swap too? I haven't checked out the database. Hopefully the Sydney weather clears up and warms up some time soon. I hope I can manage full-time work and part-time craft/play.
DeleteHope you are keeping well Sandra.

Lovely card! Good luck being back at work - it can be difficult to fit enough crafting in when you work full time but sometimes you just have to make time for it!
ReplyDeleteI'm working my way through this weeks WOYWW - I’m over half way through now!

Thanks Sheena...I'm getting there. I will be doing my darnedest to make time for craft. I've only managed to look at 20 or so blogs out of the 150 or so on Julia's blog...by the time I get through them all it will be Wednesday again...lol
DeleteWow ...a year off and now back to work ....when i worked I had to have a 3 month break ...I still remember how disoriantated I felt for the first few days back....good luck.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover with opening door ...great idea.
Thanks for dropping by my blog ...couldn't manage everyone as the numbers are huge now ...most weeks I get to a random 50+ but I always visit those who drop in to see me.
Thanks for stopping by Angie. I've only managed to visit 20 or so myself...as I just said, by the time I get to them all it will be Wednesday again and I'll have to start all over!
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy how my vintage fat book page ended up...each month we have to make 2, but I've decided to make 3 so that I have one of my pages in the book each month too. I haven't actually finished my page yet...but I've done the components...I just have to put it all together.
Hopefully I'll manage to get to your blog again next week.
Love the work on your desk this week! Where did you get the door image from?
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, we know what air conditioning is up here! We just don't need to use it all that often.....hehehehehe
Morti, I borrowed the door stamp from a friend...I have a feeling it is a discontinued stamp (it is part of a plate series). I'm not sure who made it but I will try to find out and let you know.
DeleteLove the card and the image that you chose for inside~!
