Hi everyone,
It has been almost a month since I last posted something...needless to say, life has been very busy and I haven't had much time to play.
Having said that, I have had a few little projects on the go which need to be completed by...yesterday! Well, at least by the end of the month.
In the paperarts group I belong to, this month's ATC swap theme was "Altered Celebrity" where basically you put one celeb's head on another's body. My first idea had been Albert Einstein's head on Lady Gaga's head...but as another particpant's contribution was very similar to my idea, I had to change tack. So in the end I went with "George Monroe".
I may still add a little more bling to finish it off.
Another swap I'm involved in, this time a mixed media one (which is not my usual M.O) is creating a 5" x 5" fat book basically in vanilla and latte (black and white being permissible) with one other colour only allowed. This month's theme was "Doors/Doorways". So this is what I've come up with so far....but I'm not quite sure...it seems too basic and I feel I really need to add some more to give it some zing! So if any of you have any suggestions...I'll gladly accept them.
Here is the front
And this is the page once the door is opened...
I decided to use a shade of red...which, those of you how know me or have been following my blog for a while, will know it is my favourite colour.
As it has been extremely hot here in Australia, I have had to move back into the house to work on my latest projects...so here is what my work desk is looking like...very crowded and very untidy...but it works.
Well, I guess that is all for today...it is actually Thursday here in Australia...it is also Australia Day, which is our national holiday...a bit like the 4th of July in the US, so I'm off to try and keep cool (it is a warm 42 degrees Celcius today (107.6 on the Fahrenheit scale)...it was 39 on Tuesday, 41 yesterday, forcast 42 for Saturday with no rest until it drops to 38 (100.4) on Tuesday and Wednesday... and finish reading the biography on Dave Grohl (my other husband! lol). We may even finish the evening off with a BBQ and watch the annual fireworks display.
Well, I guess that's summer on the west coast of Australia!!! HOT! (Thank the Lord for air conditioners)
Until next time.
;D
Happy Australia day to you!!! Lovely projects as always and I am looking forward to receiving this swap. I was never one who could leave a pressie unopened before the big day so I had to peek. The weather in Sydney is relatively cool considering what you are suffering. At least we aren't in Qld.
ReplyDeleteI love your ATC's, they are gorgeous :) I especially love the one where the door opens!

Please tell me that the stampotique stamp on your desk is new...and you hadn't used it for the fat book before you took the picture? Or are you really harbouring a collection of stamps so clean as to shame me?!! Don't blame you for moving back indoors, but hope you're enjoying summer generally! Loving the George Monroe by the way, great mix of well knows, very droll!
ReplyDeleteSorry I've taken so long in replying to your post Julia. The "stampotique" stamp on my desk looks a lot cleaner than it really is. I've used it at least 6 times, I haven't varnished the wood block (as I usually do) so there are a few ink stains on the wood.
DeleteHa, ha, your George Monroe ATC is clever. Hope you enjoyed Australia Day.
ReplyDeleteThank you to all of you for spending time to check out my most recent posting. I'm glad that my quirky sense of humour has tickled some of you funny bones!
